Identifying the Need: The cement blending material usage rate was relatively low, especially the limestone blending rate, which was lower compared to other enterprises under China Resources Group. Increasing the blending material usage rate to reduce the production cost of PC cement was a critical technical challenge that needed urgent resolution.
Meeting the Need: Based on the specific requirements of the base, the product formula was adjusted to provide a product that met their needs.
Validating the Need: After discussions between both parties, a consensus was reached to form a technical task force led by the General Manager. The team first determined the cement mill production quality indicators and identified the correlation between 45μm sieve residue and the 28-day strength of the cement. Using the optimal 45μm sieve residue control indicator identified, an industrial trial was organized to increase the limestone blending rate by 1% on top of the existing blending material usage. Periodic meetings were held as required to discuss the progress and findings of the trials.
Achieving the Need: The cement mill production output was ultimately increased by approximately 15%. The limestone blending rate :26%, and the total blending material usage: 38%.
